Why it is a range, not a fixed number

Spotify does not pay a fixed rate per stream. Your actual payout depends on the countries your listeners are in, whether they are on Premium or the free tier, your distributor and label splits, currency rates, and how the total royalty pool is divided that month.

Treat this as a planning estimate, not a guarantee or a statement of what you will be paid.

How much does Spotify pay per stream?

Most independent artists actually see somewhere between $0.002 and $0.004 per stream, which works out to roughly $2 to $4 per 1,000 streams and $2,000 to $4,000 per million streams. The widely quoted "$0.003 to $0.005" figures come from higher-end cases: streams from Premium subscribers in top-paying markets like the US, UK and Germany. In reality, a large share of streams come from the free tier, lower-paying markets, or get split with distributors, labels and collaborators, so many artists are paid well below those headline rates. Two artists with identical stream counts can still be paid very differently.

How to use this streams to money calculator

Type your stream count from Spotify for Artists, or drag the slider, and the estimate updates as you go. Use your monthly streams to estimate monthly royalties, or your all-time streams to estimate lifetime royalties. Note that royalties are paid through your distributor or label, so payments usually arrive one to three months after the streams happen.
